Unless you have been living under a rock, you must have heard about the R&B (not so) icon's terrible performance on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest on new years eve. Spectators complained about her shameless lip syncing and the lack of care she displayed as it was all going wrong, giving up  half way through songs, walking mindlessly across the stage  and complaining that she was underprepared in front of the live crowd, while the records continued to play in the background.

Amid criticism, Mariah and her management team are pointing all fingers at the production team, claiming technical difficulties and even going further by accusing  Dick Clark Productions of deliberately sabotaging her performance. In a statement for Billboard Carey's PR Nicole Perna says "its a shame that production set her up to fail" alleging that they had alerted the production team to Carey's faulty ear piece to no avail, further stating "they told her it would be fine once she got onstage.... that was not the case, they were again told that her ear piece was not working. Instead of endeavouring to fix the issue so that Mariah could perform, they went live"

DCP have since issued a statement saying “To suggest that Dick Clark Productions would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd.  In very rare instance,s there are of course technical errors that can occur with live television.  However, an initial investigation has indicated that DCP had no involvement in the challenges associated with Ms. Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance.” If the saga continues Mariah and co. may find themselves in some legal hot water for defamation.

If you missed the performance, or if you were spared rather, take a look if you really want to. If you would like to remember Mariah for the 5 time Grammy winner, 34 time Grammy nominee and record breaking superstar, then I suggest you don't watch the video below.

Embarrassing if you ask me!
