GWEN STEFFANI AND PHARELL WILLIAMS IN SOME LEGAL HOT WATER.

Former lead singer for L.A.P.D (Korn) Richard Morrill is suing Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams for copyright infringement, Stefani's company Harijuku Lovers and Interscope Records are also defendants in the claim.

Morals claims that Stefani's 'Spark the fire' song co-written by Williams ,which was released in 2009, bears striking similarities to his 'Who's got my lighter' record released in 1996. In any Copyright infringement case the burden is on the claimant to prove that the defendant had access to his/her work at the the infringing work was being created, Morrill alleges that he had given Stefani a CD containing his song. He further claims that the lyrics in the two songs are substantially similar, with the exception of some modifications.

In addition to the infringement claim, Morrills is also pursuing Stefani for civil theft. According to Billboard he's seeking an injection to stop further distribution, disgorgement of profits, damages and an official declaration that his copyrights were infringed.
