The rise in ticket bots and the fight to shut them down has been a major discussion in the Music Industry in 2016. Earlier in the year the U.S. passed legislation to combat this under and it has now officially become law.

Scalpers who take advantage of the secondary ticket sale market serve to deprive fans and artists who want real fans to get their hands on tickets from attending their favourite live shows. For clarity 'ticket bots' are online softwares which buy out  huge number of tickets as soon as they go on sale, where users of the bots then go and sell those tickets on secondary markets. Imagine a situation where your favourite artists  announces a ticket release date, you anticipate the release with your money ready to purchase and before you get a chance they're sold out.

The subject is currently heavily debated in parliament with the hopes of following in the U.S.'s footsteps as Policy makers continue to develop the Digital Economy Act, though there is some debate that use of ticket bot softwares is already illegal under the Computer Misuse Act.

Obama's signing off on what will now become known as the 'Better Online Ticket Sales Act' (BOTS ironically) means that it is now  a federal crime to purchase tickets via computer softwares.

Nice little fare well present Obama , good looking out :)
